Why it's flagged
BHA (butylated hydroxyanisole) is a synthetic preservative classified as 'reasonably anticipated to be a human carcinogen' by the National Toxicology Program (NTP) and as a Group 2B carcinogen by IARC. Mixed tocopherols (vitamin E) are a natural alternative used by many brands.
