Soy Protein is a widely used pet food ingredient for dogs. Based on veterinary research, this ingredient has generally considered low-risk but good to know about. Below, we explain what we found and list the products that include it.
Why it's flagged
Soy is one of the more common food allergens in dogs and contains phytoestrogens (isoflavones) that may affect hormone levels with long-term exposure. Dogs clear these compounds better than cats, but it's worth knowing about if your dog has sensitivities.
